The Apartment613 Fall Fiction Contest - Enter Now!
With an active writers festival, several poetry slams every month and a plethora of reading series taking place - Ottawa’s literary scene is producing great writers like never before. We’re hoping that Apartment613 can feature some of this great writing over the fall months with our Fall Fiction Contest. Here are the details:
We’re accepting entries of original fiction of 1000 words or less. There is no restriction on topic - but a local Ottawa hook is encouraged.
Voices of Venus
A celebration of women writers with a focus on spoken word and poetry, Voices of Venus takes place on the second Tuesday of every month and includes a women's Open Mic as well as feature artists.
Voices of Venus is held at Umi Café (corner of Somerset and Percy), and hosted by Faye Estrella.
Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Cover is pay-what-you-can, suggested donation = $5.
November's feature artist is the illustrious and erotic Megan Butcher.
A librarian, pornographer, sex educator and writer, Megan is the author of two chapbooks, This is What She Said and Caught My Eye, as well as co-author of a zine entitled A Guide to the Mannerly Wooing and Winning of the Object of Your Affection. Her work has also appeared in dig magazine, Herizons, Ottawa Xpress, and SMUT Magazine.
