Back-to-school Comix Jam
Please join the Ottawa Comix Jam Group for our September Jam at the Shanghai Restaurant (651 Somerset St. W.) Our theme is open, but we have a great stylistic challenge suggested last month by Gerard Belec! Everyone will get to start a story, but will begin with the LAST panel. Jammers are encouraged to tell a story backwards, starting with panel 6, then seeing just how the story got that way. Come out and give it a whirl!
Wednesday September 29th, 2010, 7pm-10pm.
Event is free, with materials provided.

Expressions of Spring-David Houlton @ Gallery Farina
Spring has arrived at Gallery Farina with a new exhibition of David Houlton's floral paintings. Houlton's work can best be described as Romantic Expressionism. His objective is to create a still life of plants and flowers together with figure studies that are a presence, not a background. Inspiration is taken from Michelangelo’s quote, “All good paintings start with the figure.”
Gallery Farina is located upstairs at 216 Elgin Street, in Johnny Farina Restaurant. "Expressions of Spring" runs from March 28 to May 30.
NEW Ottawa Comix Jam
Every month, artists gather at the Shanghai to draw together for a few hours and create memorable and fun 'jams'. Come out and see what all the fuss is about! All welcome, event is free, materials provided.
The collaborative nature of the jam means no one knows exactly how a story will turn out or what will happen next for everyone's characters. Crazy twists and silliness make the once a month outing a treat not to be missed.
Hope to see you there. March's theme is MADNESS! So dust off your straightjackets and prepare to draw a few maniacs >^_^<

PIN-UP FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY //
Our February pinup girl Emily!!! Grrr....meow
My day starts with Kitty talk. I am a singer with some bright ideas. I think I'll give some of those a try.
I like my mess...
Yes, I like my mess.
Unfortunate too others as it may be, my mess makes sense to me.
I am not going to qualify the fact that I don't quite know whether my mess is a collision between myself and the pop pop pop culture, or whether it is just another entry into it. It is, not really the most recognizable thing in the world, for you, but not for me.
Overgrown mess, neat, it becomes neat when it has grown large enough, as big as the space that negates it, draws people away from it, into the nicely presented, within the box, mess or no mess that many arts may be.
Well, redundent as that maybe, maybe I am redundent as that may be. Maybe, pop pop pop is a messy world today...
C'est la vie. It is sneaking up on me. Rhyme is so fucking trite. I prefer a good wholesome mess...
A mess which isn't really all that, special. Maybe it isn't all that special. Maybe, it is redundent, like all y'all. Shitty words, messy words, messy mess.

Ok, so I just joined a few minutes ago. I'm in school full time and I want to start selling my paintings. You can check them out at www.lynethmorgan.blogspot.com. If anybody has any info about how to start doing that, feel free to let me in on it! I'm broke as all hell, so framing everything is also another issue I have. Blah. Thanks!
