Tiger Lily aka Veronica Michelle is a writer for Upfront Magazine and Apt613.ca; a visual artist; and as one of the founding members of Rockalily Burlesque, a burlesque performer. She is also a founding member of YWTF: Ottawa (Younger Women's Task Force). She's an avid lover of live music and art showings.

Join this month's meeting of the NEW Ottawa Comix Jam at the Shanghai Restaurant, 651 Somerset St. W. The last Wednesday of the month sees artists of varying levels who are comic enthusiasts getting together to draw. Artwork is posted on the official site on a monthly basis.

Spring has arrived at Gallery Farina with a new exhibition of David Houlton's floral paintings. Houlton's work can best be described as Romantic Expressionism. His objective is to create a still life of plants and flowers together with figure studies that are a presence, not a background. Inspiration is taken from Michelangelo’s quote, “All good paintings start with the figure.&...
A writer focusing mostly on the medium of the short story, I also have been known to have small humour articles published on the likes of black20.com. A huge advocate of Ottawa's zine scene, in particular Matilda Zine and Standard Issue - keep a lookout for my in-the-works zine: "Borderline Narcotic".
Volunteering and attending festivals and projects and loving it all the way! Believing one day I'll create something as fantastic as these Ottawa artists I see all around me.
I am a performing electronic musician. My music has been released at various times by Immanence Records (UK), Hive Records (US), Livevil Records (US), and most recently the Meat Parade Collective (OTTAWA).
I am also active in Ottawa's film and video community, as a member of SAW Video co-op, former VP of the Carleton Film Society, and founding member of the now-defunkt Ottawa Film Forum. Since 2003, I have written and directed 5 short films, and have worked on countless others as composer and/or sound designer.
I have also worked for a variety of local festivals, including Centretown Movies Outdoor Film Festival, and the world-renowned Ottawa International Animation Festival.
Plus, I like to dance.
We publish weekly and quarterly content, online and in print, that examines "Ottawa culture at ground level."
MANDATE:
TotoToo Theatre’s mandate is to stage live theatre performances of plays written by Canadian playwrights for the national capital region’s gay and lesbian community. We select quality plays that may not otherwise be produced in Ottawa by other community and professional theatre companies because of their gay and/or lesbian themes and/or content.
MISSION/VISION:
TotoToo Theatre is guided by our mandate and produces three plays per season. Our mission/vision consists of the following objectives:
v To provide opportunities for volunteers from within the National Capital region community who would like to learn aspects of theatre production and theatre marketing.
v To audition actors who may or may not have had previous experience in theatre, and to challenge gay/lesbian stereotypes in terms of how characters are developed and presented.
v To invite the gay and lesbian community to see representations of their lives and experiences on stage that reflect their experiences and issues.
v To educate and expose gay and lesbian issues to the wider theatre-going audience and to attract new people to experience theatre.
v To educate and create awareness among the broader theatre producing community about gay/lesbian stereotyping and to demonstrate a wider range of gay/lesbian character development and representation within the theatre arts.
STAKEHOLDERS:
TotoToo Theate is registered as a non-profit corporation whose board consists of Marc Barrette (Producer), David Ferguson (Artistic Director) and Mark Webster (Marketing and Public Relations).
TotoToo Theatre has not relied on grants or creditors. We are financially solvent and independent thanks largely to our stakeholders who consist of the gay and lesbian business community and patrons.
I make ambient electronic music from a discreet space station on my desktop. These 'songs' then seek to populate various corners of digitized space like multicoloured gelatinous dendrites gone haywire.
