I am a visual artist, and my practice involves painting, printmaking, and digital media. As an artist that works with traditional materials, I am interested in the origin of these materials and how they inform my work. The animal presence in my work as well as in art history is something that I have explored in my work for the past 4 years and will continue to explore as I develop as an artist. Because of my fascination with the history and physical properties of the traditional media I work with, my work often emphasizes these characteristics in application and subject matter.
I have shown both in Canada and internationally, and was the recipient of the Akimbo award in 2006. I am a graduate of the Art & Art History Program at the University of Toronto, joint with the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (2006). I teach visual arts classes and workshops, and have a number of classes coming up. To find out more about me and what I am up to, check out my website at http://www.ashleyandrews.ca
